Long ago in the age of the old World of Darkness (also know as the 90s), White Wolf decided to create a community for fan's roleplaying websites. This web portal, known as the Dark Spiral, is home of hundreds of fan-sanctioned pages covering each of White Wolf Studios various systems and games. If you scroll to the bottom of our Healing Scars webpage you might even notice that we are also in this little club. Unfortunately, the folks behind White Wolf have a terrible habit of over-extending their resources. And such is the case with the Dark Spiral. Well over half of the links are broken. And the ones that do work, well... the quality and content is certainly lacking. The project is, and has been for some time now, in a state of limbo.
There are a few decent fan sites, in and out of Dark Spiral, that I frequently pass by. Sorting the good from the bad is often comparable to the "needle in a haystack theory", so I figured listing the one's I've found might prove beneficial.
If anyone (and by that I mean anyone in the Healing Scars) wants to edit this post and add to the list please be my guest.
Ex Libris Nocturnis was originally founded nearly ten years ago. The site accepts submissions for pretty much every game White Wolf has published, from the World of Darkness to the Age of Sorrows to the Scarred Lands. If you are looking for some official-looking UNOFFICIAL content, then this is the place to be.
Shadown Essence is a website that gives players a glimpse into the World of Darkness and the added insight to what these games are all about. Shadow Essence also doubles as a friendly community where players and storytellers alike can add their voice to the chorus that is the World of Darkness. The artwork behind this site is absolutely stunning. I enjoy browsing the forums from time to time.
Wolfspoor is the leading portal for White Wolf rumors and official news. The PHP Nuke-based theme is a bit dated, but the news feeds are more reliable than the official White Wolf site.
The Werewolf Forsaken LiveJournal Community has a decent fanbase and posts some of the best session summaries on the net. I highly recommendmend reading the Silence of Time sessions. You also might want to check out another LiveJournal site called Garou Nation, which hosts chronicles based in the Werewolf: the Apocalypse universe. Labels: Dark Spiral, Links |
